About Our School
Emerald Ridge Elementary School opens its doors to the public in the fall of 2014. From its inception, Emerald Ridge Elementary School sought to be at the forefront of 21st century education design and to embody the vision of the Prairie Valley School Division, to promote “Leadership in Learning and Life”. The project, though formally dictated by the Ministry of Education, was left up to the design team to create spaces for multiple learning styles, collaboration, multidisciplinary learning, and flexibility. The flexible design allows teachers to tailor space to needs and accommodates different approaches to education delivery. From a two-sided stage with three viewing configurations to operable garage doors opening onto Learning Streets in every classroom, the architecture seeks to be changed and explored daily.
Emerald Ridge Elementary School, along with École White City School and Greenall High School, is one of three Prairie Valley School Division schools serving the White City/Emerald Park communities. Upon opening day, approximately 340 students, from Kindergarten to Grade 8, attended Emerald Ridge Elementary School. Today we have approximately 494 that attend the school. Our staff is comprised of full-time and part-time positions with a total of 46 staff members.
School Goals
Our goal at Emerald Ridge Elementary School is to further the intellectual, social, aesthetic and physical development of each child. We strive to achieve this by providing an all encompassing educational experience, encouraging each child to discover his/her individual potential. As a staff, we will provide a safe learning environment that fosters co-operation, positive self-esteem and an awareness of and a respect for the rights of others.
